Senate Biotechnology Caucus Inaugurated
First Session Explores Adequacy of Existing
Regulations on Genetically Altered Corn

The co-chairs of the new Senate Biotech Caucus, Senators Chris Dodd, D-Conn., and Tim Hutchinson, R-Ark., today convened the Caucus' first meeting. The agenda focused on recent incidents in which genetically altered corn has been found in food intended for human consumption. Officials from several federal agencies testified before the Senators about current regulations and whether further oversight is needed.
