Senator Dodd joined Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz, and other state and local leaders at a press conference to unveil electronic voting machines which will be used in a demonstration project during this November’s municipal elections in eight Connecticut towns.

Dodd authored the Help America Vote Act of 2002, the goal of which is to ensure that all registered voters in America have the right to cast a vote and have that vote counted. It also authorized more than $3.8 billion over the next three years to help states replace and renovate voting equipment, train poll workers, educate voters, upgrade voter lists, make polling places more accessible for the disabled, and for other election administration purposes. The law requires all states to upgrade their voting machines by 2006.

The eight towns participating in the project are: Cromwell, Griswold, Hartford, Middletown, Sharon, Southington, West Hartford, Wilton.
